Dogs Hurting

Mississippi State’s football team has lost quarterback Omarr Conner indefinitely and Tray Rutland for the rest of the season to injuries sustained in Saturday’s loss to West Virginia.
MRI test results today revealed that Conner, MSU’s starter, has suffered a Grade 3 severe right groin strain. School officials would not say when Conner, a senior, is expected to return. The prognosis was far worse for Rutland. The redshirt freshman tore both his left anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments — two of the three main ligaments in the knee — after taking a direct hit late on the knee in the fourth quarter. The injuries leave the Bulldogs (1-5) with sophomore Michael Henig as the team’s lone quarterback with significant playing experience. The only other quarterback on MSU’s roster is freshman Ty Evans, who took the final three snaps of the 42-14 loss to West Virginia.MSU coach Sylvester Croom was not immediately available for comment, but said after Saturday’s game that he was “just not certain” where things stood at the quarterback position
