As Expected

(Clarion Ledger)-Wide receiver A.J. Jackson, one of the most highly ranked recruits in the 2007 Ole Miss signing class, will not play football for the Rebels this fall.
Speaking to reporters prior to tonight's Rebel Reunion at the Trade Mart in Jackson, coach Ed Orgeron said Jackson, who played last fall for College of the Sequoias in California, did not qualify academically."As of right now, we don't think he's going to be enrolling at any university next year," Orgeron said.Jackson was ranked as the No. 1 junior college recruit in the nation by Scout.com, an Internet based recruiting service.In two seasons at the College of the Sequoias, Jackson caught 73 passes, for 1,260 yards and 25 touchdowns. In 2005, he was teammates with current Rebel quarterback Brent Schaeffer. That season, Jackson had 43 catches, for 667 yards and 16 TDs.
