Lynn Pitcher of the Week

(SID) OXFORD, Miss. – Sophomore right-hander Lance Lynn was named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Lynn picked up the honor for the second time this season after pitching a complete-game shutout of fourth-ranked South Carolina on Saturday as the Rebels clinched the weekend series with a 6-0 win. The sophomore struck out a career-high 12 batters in the outing and allowed only three hits on the afternoon.

It is the second time this season Lynn was named Pitcher of the Week by the SEC office. He also received the award after pitching the Rebels to a 6-1 win on the road over No. 1 Vanderbilt. Lynn has now posted wins over two top-5 teams this season on his way to a 4-3 record.

Against the Gamecocks on Saturday, Lynn retired the first seven batters before allowing a runner on base with a walk. Only six runners reached base on the afternoon in 30 at bats, with no base runner advancing past second. Only two batters advanced past first. Lynn did not give up his second hit of the game until the eighth inning on an infield single.
