Dogs Defeat Rebels

The Governor's/Mayor's Trophy returned to Starkville for the first time in 6 years tonight as the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels 14-9 at Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS. By all accounts for the Rebels, it was an ugly game allowing 7 runs in the fifth inning, in which the Rebels walked multiple runs in. The Dogs got on top early and kept that lead for most of the game except for a couple of innings in which the game was tied 4-4.

Once again the Rebels were able to get a high number of hits, but not able to get those runners to home plate. The Rebels were only able to score 9 runs off of 16 hits compared to State who scored 14 runs off 14 hits and four errors by the Rebels. The Bulldogs seemed to have more desire to win this as the Rebels seemed to be a step slow all night long, committing the most errors in a game this season.

All in all it should be an interesting weekend in two weeks as the Rebels and Dogs square off in Oxford for a three game weekend series. No confirmation yet if Sam H. will be performing on the Square in conjunction with the Double Decker festival that weekend. Now that his musical act has been published on the internet, it is only a matter of time before he is picked up by an agent.
