A GREAT Weekend

It was a great weekend of Ole Miss baseball. The Rebels took 2 of 3 from South Carolina in three games in which the Rebels played some of the best ball they have played all year. This series win means big things for the team. I think it restored some confidence the team had lost in the last week or so.

The game this afternoon was one of the craziest I had seen in a while. For different times in the game, all a player at the plate had to do was make any kind of contact with the pitch and it was going out of the park. The wind played a huge impact in the game.It benefited both teams, but it definitely helped South Carolina more than the Rebs.

South Carolina got up big on the Rebs early, but the Rebels answered throughout the game, eventually tieing the Gamecocks. However they came up short in the end losing 11-9. The Rebs out hit South Carolina 16-9, but once again had trouble getting those hits into runs. However I liked the way the Rebs played and fought in this game.

In state rival MSU is on tap next weekend. State has a very slight edge in the SEC standings, so alot is at stake for both teams. I anticipate alot of Dogs and Rebs in the stands for this one, it is going to be one of the bigger series these two have had with each other. More on this series as the week goes by.
