Rebs End Non-Conference Play

Ole Miss wrapped up non conference play tonight with a convincing win over the Memphis Tigers 10-2. The Rebels were led at the plate by Zach Miller who was 3-4 from the plate with 2 rbi's. The Rebels got it started with back to back home runs in the third from Zach Cozart and Cody Overbeck, there was no looking back from that point as the runs continued to come for the Rebs. The runs allowed for a good bit of substitutions to allow some guys to play that normally don't see the field

It was also a good night for the Rebel pitching staff. Brett Buckvich pitched a good five innings to get the win. It was the second game in a row for Buckvich to have a good performance from the mound.

This was a good win for the Rebels as they got their 31st win of the season. The Memphis fans(I still have never met one) built this game up all week as they normally do, but the Rebels answered the call and shut them up.

I continue to like the play of Zach Miller. He is a fighter not only at the plate, but in the field also. He really helped us out by stepping up at second which allowed us to add another hitter and move Justin Henry to the outfield.

The Rebels move on to Knoxville to take on the Volunteers this weekend. Any series on the road is tough in the SEC no matter who you play. It is imperative for the Rebels to win the series to stay where they are in the SEC standings. It should be another good weekend in Rebel baseball. No word yet whether any of the games will be on t.v.
