Freshman Makes a Statement

(UMAA)OXFORD, Miss. – After helping Ole Miss defeat Memphis 41-24 Saturday, Rebel running back Brandon Bolden was named SEC Freshman of the Week Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Bolden led the team in rushing in his collegiate debut, racking up 76 yards on eight carries and breaking several tackles in a 10-yard touchdown run. He also completed a 37-yard pass to Jevan Snead.
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Bolden came to Ole Miss from Scotlandville Magnet High School, where he rushed for 866 yards and 12 TDs and caught 12 passes for 256 yards as a senior. He was ranked the No. 21 player in Louisiana and No. 34 RB in the nation by Rivals.com.
Bolden becomes the first Rebel to be chosen SEC Freshman of the Week since 2006, when both Dexter McCluster and Marshay Green received the honor.
