Bittle Named Pitcher of the Week

(UMAA)OXFORD, Miss. – Following a week that saw him pick up a pair of saves, Ole Miss junior right-hander Scott Bittle was named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week the league office announced on Monday.

Bittle made two appearances on the week, picking up saves against Southern Miss and TCU as he worked 6.0 innings combined in the two appearances. In his time on the mound, Bittle allowed only one hit and struck out nine batters while holding opponents to a .056 batting average. The junior faced only one batter above the minimum in his time on the mound as he faced 19 batters in 18 possible outs.

He also did not allow a run in his time on the mound.

Bittle and the Rebels will return to action on Tuesday when Ole Miss will play host to Western Kentucky in the first game of a two game set. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
