Gophers???

First pitch is less than 24 hours away as the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This is a pretty tough matchup for opening day, but the type of non conference schedule that has become the norm under coach Mike Bianco. The Gophers were a 42 win team last year and were eliminated in the San Diego regional last summer.

A couple of notes for opening day:

• The Rebels have won 26 season openers in a row.
• Ole Miss is 3-0 all time against the Gophers
• Gary Darby will return the radio booth this year, replacing Richard Cross. I thought Cross was very knowledgeable in baseball and was good at what he did, I hated to see him go. With that being said, Darby was also a good baseball analyst last time he was in the booth, I am glad to see him return.
