Wade Re-Signs With Redskins

The former Greenwood resident and Jackson Prep graduate has officialy resigned with the Washington Redskins.

(NFL)The Redskins have re-signed veteran offensive lineman Todd Wade, the team announced on Tuesday. Wade is a 6-8, 317-pounder who has played offensive tackle in his seven years in the NFL.

Wade originally signed with the Redskins in September 2006 and he served as Jon Jansen's backup at right tackle all last season.

In Week 15, with Jansen sidelined due to the calf injury, Wade stepped in. The line didn't miss a beat, as the offense compiled 161 rushing yards and yielded just one sack.

Wade was originally a second round draft choice for the Miami Dolphins in 2000 out of the University of Mississippi. In his NFL career, he has played in 87 games with 86 starts at the tackle position.

Before joining the Redskins, Wade spent the previous two seasons with the Houston Texans, where he played in 23 games with 22 starts over the course of two years.

He started and played in the Texans' first nine games in 2005 before his season was cut short by a knee injury. He was released by the Texans in July 2006.
