Sick of This P.R. Mess

From today's Clarion Ledger:

"Athletic director Larry Templeton added to the optimism by announcing that ESPN has asked to nationally televise the openers in 2006 and 2007. In the preliminary 2006 schedule to be released today, MSU is scheduled to play UAB. But ESPN asked for another specific opponent. Templeton would not disclose that opponent and said the talks are ongoing."

Why in anyone's right mind would you want to televise a team's home opener for back to back seasons that has won a TOTAL of FIVE games over the past two years. Unless ESPN knows of some secret new team that MSU has, I can think of much better home opener games they would want to televise. I would really love to know what ESPN logic is behind this.
