In Honor of Boo

Reigning Cellular South Ferriss Trophy winner Stephen Head of Ole Miss is among the four finalists for this year's award, officials for the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum announced Monday. The other finalists are Delta State catcher Craig Newton, Ole Miss infielder/pitcher Brian Pettway and Millsaps infielder Garner Wetzel.Pettway leads the SEC in hitting (.415) and is third in homers with 17. Newton is hitting .358 with 13 home runs for the Statesmen, who host the NCAA Division II South/Central Regional Thursday. Wetzel leads the Majors with a .422 average and 12 homers.
The Ferriss Trophy is awarded to the top collegiate player in Mississippi, as selected by a panel of major league scouts, the state's four-year college coaches and one media representative.

Personally, I am pulling for Pettway to win this won. In my opion, Pettway has had more of an offensive impact to the team this year, his batting average is evidence of that. I would like to know who yall would pick between the two.

As far as the award, Boo Ferris is a great man. I have had the privilege of meeting Coach Ferris multiple times. He is a great man, that loves to spend time talking to young people. He has some great stories to tell about his baseball experiences. If you are ever able to hear him speak, please go do so.
