Too Many Missed Opportunities

The battle on the Plains was won by Auburn this weekend. Auburn defeated Ole Miss two out of three games. On Friday night the Rebels let a lead get away from them late in the game. In the ninth it looked like the Rebels might have a shot at the win, but Stephen Head's hit to the outfield was robbed by an Auburn defender. On Saturday, the Rebels came out hot in the first. Maloney did not have the same type outing this week. The Rebs were rocked and suffered a big time loss. The Rebels knew they could not get swept and responded on Sunday. They started off hot and never looked back. Unfortunately they were only able to salvage one game out of the weekend. One major reason, it took Stephen Head two and one half games to get a hit. When your clean up hitter does not get a hit till Sunday, you probably will not win a series. However, Brian Pettway continued to hit the long ball, as he served up several home runs this weekend. The Rebels continue their march for the title as they host the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend. A sweep would be huge, but series win is a must. Ole Miss has the mid-week off, to prepare for exams. Big weekend in Oxford coming up, I would recommend being here.
