Finish

The story of the season for the Rebels is not knowing how to finish a game. For three quarters the Ole Miss team dominated the in state rivals Mississippi State. A controversial fourth and one call by the Rebels which led to a stop by the Dogs turned everything around. The Bulldogs scored seventeen straight points including a punt return and a 48 yard field goal to win the game.

The Rebels ran an effective spread offense for most of the game. I thought Brent Schaeffer had a good game. He made a couple of wrong decisions, but it was his receivers who cost him late in the game. Multiple dropped passes really hurt the Rebels chances to put a drive together to run clock late in the game.

As far as the defense goes, they also had a great three quarters. They basically took the Dixon running game out of play and forced the Dogs to run a different offense. A late interception brought temporary relief for the Rebel nation, but could not hold on.

All in all the overwhelming majority of Ole Miss fans are very upset over the play call to go for it on fourth and one at the fifty yard line giving the Dogs a short field to work with. Will it cost Orgeron his job? I doubt it. But the Rebel nation is very ticked off and tired of poorly managed games where the Rebels have chances to win games but can't hold on.I would say there is a strong vote of No Confidence out there against Orgeron. Of course I never thought Cutcliffe would be fired, but I guess enough money guys got involved to run him out. It should be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of days.
