Hitting Show

The Ole Miss baseball put on a hitting show this weekend like one that I have never seen. Ole Miss greatly improved their standing in the SEC race as they swept the Mississippi State Bulldogs this weekend. This was the first SEC series sweep of the year for the Rebs and the first time in 27 years to sweep MSU. Ole Miss improved to (32-13) tying LSU for second in the West only one game behind Alabama. Many different players led the Ole Miss sweep this weekend, most notable is pitcher Mark Maloney. Maloney pitched the best game of the season for the Rebels going the whole nine innings on about 110 pitches. When a pitcher can go the full nine innings and pitch a shut out it is very impressive. This Rebel team looked real good out there this weekend. If everyone is coming together and playing we are a hard team to beat. It seems to me Bianco is not going to let a May slide happen like he has the past couple of years. However we still have three series left, only one of which is at home. The Rebs return to action Tuesday night in a make up game against Southeastern Louisiana.
