Lunch With Tubby

I just returned from a Tip-Off club meeting in which Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith was the key speaker. Smith commented alot about how he had respect for Rod Barnes. Smith, whose son Brian is a member of the Ole Miss team, likes the way Barnes treats his players. He later spoke of changes he would like to see made in college basketball. Smith did not agree with the 5-second defensive rule, he also believe we should shorten the shot clock. When asked who the best player he ever coached was, Smith answered with Detroit Pistons star Tayshaun Prince. Overall it was a pretty good luncheon and good to see how coaches in the SEC have respect for each other. Although I could almost guarantee you no coach would have done this for Rick Stansburry.
