The Good Ole Days of Going Bowling

ESPN Classics just finished showing the 1999 Independence Bowl game between Ole Miss and Oklahoma. I remember being at that game and hearing some terrible country music singer attempt a version of the National Anthem. It was by far the most awful attempt at singing I have ever witnessed. The game was a great one. Oklahoma went up by one with a little over two minutes to go. On the next possession Ole Miss drove into the Oklahoma side of the field. Oklahoma had numerous penalties on the last series and basically set us up to win the game. Romaro Miller and Deuce set up a game winning field goal by Les Binkley with no time left. I remember ringing in the new millennium on our way back to the hotel. Trivia fact: Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma was the last NCAA football game of the twentieth century.
